I feel like I’m getting a slow start, but things are progressing little by little. In the latter half of 2020, I set a goal to officially start Lightward Bound by getting it incorporated in the state of Utah by the end of the year. I also planned to apply to IRS for tax-exempt status by then. After carefully considering and preparing various things, such as how much need there is for the organization, time was running out as the end of the year was approaching. My core goal was to have the organization started by the end of 2020. Though I didn’t accomplish the full goal, I did manage to start up the organization as a business entity by registering it as a “dba” associated with my name. This means that I am doing business as<\/em> Lightward Bound.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the organization set up this way, I cannot take tax-deductible donations. I will still be able to do some of the work I want the organization to do here in Tooele County (see Stage 1<\/a> info on this site). Lather this year, I intend to complete the process to change the organization’s registration status with the state of Utah to non-profit corporation. After that, I can focus on tax-exempt status with IRS and become a 501(c)(3) organization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I have also been working on creating at least a very basic website that can give more information on the organization. I have been learning to use WordPress to create the website. I like doing that sort of stuff, so it’s kind of fun. I also created an image to use as a logo for the organization. I don’t know if it will be permanent or if we will come up with another one later. But for now, I got the image to show up in browser tabs, which is pretty cool. A larger version is also on the home page of this site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I came up with an idea that I want to use for business cards and I hope to get my first batch printed up soon. I just need to talk to a couple of local places that do printing and find out costs etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
