As 2021 comes to a close, I want to give an update on what’s been happening with Lightward Bound. I feel it has been a good year, with some valuable progress in a few areas, but there’s much more to come, in time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The most significant outward accomplishment for Lightward Bound has been weekly social media posts and blog posts covering light in a variety of topics. For this final month, the topic was children. After the first few months of posting, I created a schedule of topics to guide what I post throughout the year. It may also be of value to people seeing the posts, so they can be informed on the topics I will cover or have covered. A partial schedule for 2022 is published on the web site; I am still filling it in. The link for the schedule is: https:\/\/lightwardbound.org\/Main\/themes-schedule\/<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n Behind the scenes, I have been working on a research report that relates to the well-being of children in Tooele County. I have made significant progress on it, but have not been able to give the attention to it that I wanted to. So I am still working on it and expect to have it completed within the first quarter of 2022. The goal of the study and report is to start a process of learning about the parenting culture in Tooele and then see how we, as a community, can optimize parenting in the county so that our children can have the best possible outcomes for their futures and for the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n After registering Lightward Bound as a business entity in Utah last year, I also created a web site for the organization. It has now been online for about a full year. In November of this year, I improved the web site, making it look more professional and improving how certain parts function. There is still a lot that could be done with it, but that will have to wait for another time. Currently, the web site provides some basic information about Lightward Bound, provides ways to contact me, and contains the blog where I have posted a number of posts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n As 2022 begins, I plan to start contacting and finding people to work with me to build the organization’s capacity to carry out its mission. I will need to select a few people for the governing board that is necessary to incorporate the organization and file for 501(C)3 status with IRS. I hope to accomplish all of this during 2022. After organizing the governing board and completing the process of incorporation and applying for 501(C)3 status, the board and I will develop a strategic plan for the next few years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I am looking forward to the new year and the new aspects of Lightward Bound that we will develop during the year.
