It’s another new year and Lightward Bound has been operating for two years now. This is now the beginning of Lightward Bound’s third year in existence. While I haven’t made the progress on some things that I would have wanted, I feel 2022 was a reasonably productive year for Lightward Bound.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The most significant accomplish was the completion of the Tooele parenting research report, which was published in May 2022. This report was the culmination of research that I started in 2020 and worked on and off until completing the report in 2022. I spent hours and hours gathering data, analyzing it, and then writing up the report of my findings. I have been glad to be finished and be able to focus more on other things (for Lightward Bound and for home and family).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The research and report focused on the responses from nine parents in Tooele, UT about their views on children and parenting. There were five key findings presented in the report, which can be found on the research page on this site (https:\/\/lightwardbound.org\/Main\/research\/<\/a>). From that report, I extracted some parenting lessons that are included in a blog post on this website (https:\/\/lightwardbound.org\/Main\/2022\/09\/03\/four-lessons-from-lightward-bounds-parenting-research\/<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n On social media I continued publishing posts each week; on the Lightward Bound blog, I posted closer to monthly. There is a lot of advice to review in those places regarding living life with light. If you haven’t seen those posts, please take some time to look through the Lightward Bound Facebook page and the Lightward Bound blog. It’s not fluffy stuff, just trying to get likes. It’s useful information that amounts to reminding us of our obligations and responsibilities that would help bring more light into our community and culture, which in turn can build a better community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n A very important process I started during the last part of the year involves the governing board. In order to get Lightward Bound incorporated in Utah, we will need a governing board. So I have been working on developing a board member selection process. I am still working on this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n For 2023 there are two main goals I plan to pursue. The first and most important to me that I need to complete this year is selecting the governing board and applying for incorporation. At that point, the board and I will need to develop strategies, plans, and goals. The other goal for the year is to begin a process of further research on parenting in Tooele County, Utah. I intend for us to learn more about the light that is coming into the lives of our children and where there may be room for improvements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Of course, I plan to continue social media posts throughout the year. For this year, I decided the theme will be the same all year. That theme is children and their well-being. This theme goes along with the research I plan for us to begin pursuing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n All of this takes time and feels so slow right now. But this is a long-term task of bringing light into our nation. Nothing is likely to happen over night. The work will take continuous effort for many years if we really want to make the changes that will make life better for all of us.
