Lightward Bound Growth Stages

Lightward Bound is at the beginning of a process to become a nationwide organization. It would be quite challenging to attempt to just jump in as a national organization right from the beginning. So in order to manage the process of going national, its founder is using a strategy of specific growth stages that gradually expand Lightward Bound’s geographic operating boundaries. Stage 1 is the beginning point, focusing in our local area of Tooele County, Utah. In Stage 2 we will expand to the whole state of Utah. Finally, in Stage 3, we will move to the national level.

Stage 1

Lightward Bound is currently at Stage 1, which is focused solely on Tooele County, Utah. For now, the main focus at this stage will be to spread the name Lightward Bound throughout the County by various means, such as participating in public venues (like the Tooele County Fair), posting in local social media forums, and other methods that seem promising.

As the name becomes known in the County and enough people are willing to give of their time and energy as volunteers, then it will be time to change Lightward Bound’s legal form. It is currently a sole proprietorship, but eventually will be changed to a non-profit corporation during this stage.

Alongside these objectives, bringing more light into the lives of Tooele County’s children will be an important Lightward Bound objective, as well. Children are at the heart of building a better world. If they can find light in their lives as children, that will carry into their adult years and yield societal benefits. In time, Lightward Bound will work with various community entities (businesses, non-profits, government) to help ensure that the children who grow up in Tooele County are raised with as much light in their lives as we can achieve.

Stage 2

In Stage 2, Lightward Bound will focus its work throughout the state of Utah. This stage will begin when the work described in Stage 1 above has established a sustainable operation in the County that helps brighten the lives of community members. At that point, we will develop a strategy to apply what we have learned during Stage 1 to the rest of Utah to help increase light throughout the State.

Stage 3

For this stage, we will develop and implement a strategy to expand our work throughout the United States, including its possessions. The specific details are still vague at this point, but should become more clear as we go through Stages 1 & 2. There are many approaches and ideas that we could use in this stage, so we’ll have to narrow it down to what seems most effective and needed at that time.
